Thai Orchid
Ever since I was a child, I have been exposed to a fair amount of orchids of all types. My parents had a huge greenhouse at home with a few thousand orchids. Also, the first time I used a camera as a child was to photograph an orchid, and every time I see an orchid and there's a camera around I will take a picture. These orchids you see here were photographed at an orchid farm in Homestead, FL, that specializes in Thai Orchids.

Blender 2.5 alpha 2 is here
The Blender Foundation released today Blender 2.5 alpha 2. Excellent release guys! I'm still finding my way around the 2.5 series...too used to 2.49, but I'm loving every minute I spend with the software.
Seminar: Advanced InDesign Techniques
Today I went to a seminar at crē8, part of the Graphics of the Americas, in South Beach. They had over 1,800 people attending the 70 different seminars and most of them were super interesting, but I didn't have the time to attend more. Those numbers mean they had 40% more people than last year, with me being part of the newcomers.
The instructor was Chad Chelius, who rocks and knows what he's doing. I didn't think he was going to tickle my inner geek...after all, it was all about design, right?
Hello PS3
It only does everything
So, after they finally decided to drop the price, I decided to finally take the plunge and got a Playstation 3. My old, original xbox looked terrible on the new HDTV, so it was a great excuse to jump into the HD entertainment. It is truly impressive, it only does everything!
PAF Awards
So, in another round of awards, we received a total of 12 awards from the Printing Association of Florida (PAF). The main one was the "Best Digital Printing" by Hewlett-Packard. Of the 12 awards, 6 were designs I made.
ADDY Award!
So, I received the news today from my boss that we got 2 Local ADDY Awards. One of them for a campaign I designed for the Royal Thai Embassy in D.C., in the category of "Direct Marketing Campaign"

Hardy upgrade is smooth!
A week before the release of Ubuntu 8.04 I decided to install the beta version on one of the servers at work. Needless to say, the installation went smooth as with any Ubuntu upgrade. Nobody even noticed any lag or hiccups. After the final version was released, I upgraded all the packages that needed upgrading. The load on the server went down 20%, which is always good.
